General

Located on the sunny side of a mountain, among vineyards, this house is wonderfully cozy and typically Slovenian, with lots of wood and an old-fashioned farm soapstone stove in the living room. On the first floor there is a little hallway, a kitchenette and a storage room. On the second floor you will find the living room with open kitchen and the bathroom with toilet and shower.

From the living room you have access to the balcony with fantastic views of the valley and mountain ridge opposite. On the second floor there are 2 bedrooms with a total of 5 beds and a baby crib. Wifi and air conditioning available. Pets are allowed.

Surroundings

The village of Gradenc consists of only a little over 20 houses and about 60 inhabitants. The people are friendly and most speak a word of English, especially the youth. You can make lovely walks along the fields and through the woods. For those in good shape, cycling is also a possibility. There is a lot of wildlife in the area so the chances of spotting deer, foxes, weasels, badgers and birds of prey are very high.

Even bears and wolves are occasionally seen. Žužemberk is 5 kilometers away and there you will find all the necessities such as 2 supermarkets, bakery, post office, restaurant, pizzeria, even service gas station, doctor and dentist. The highlight is the castle and the river Krka. Here you can swim, canoe, whitewater raft or fly fish. From Gradenc it is a nice walk of a good hour, on the road or through the forest.

Location

Gradenc is located in the Dolenjska province. 5km from Žužemberk and close to the border with Croatia. Novo mesto is the nearest town and is a half hour drive away, 30km. Here you can store to your heart's content. The pleasant capital Ljubljana is 55km away. Croatia is not far either. In an hour and a half you drive to Zagreb and in just under two hours you are on the Adriatic Sea.
